Eid
Eid Mubarak Dear Ones!
I find myself nostalgic every Eid, as I recall memories of joyful gatherings of my childhood years. What I recall most are the simple little acts of kindness and shared laughter.
Do look at this image of a beautiful dewy dawn, as the sun gently rises, and graces the sky with vibrant hues of gold, orange and mauve. Then look deep within yourself and ask who you would like most in the world to sit next to you in silence, stillness, and solitude, watching the daybreak?
If this person lives, call them now or go see them and tell them how much you love them, miss them, and yearn to be with them.
If this person has transitioned to the next world, then take a moment to make a prayer or supplication for their wellbeing in the spiritual abode.
Life is so short and our next moment isn’t guaranteed.
I think longingly of my paternal grandfather (I never knew my maternal grandfather). My paternal grandfather was my best friend. A truly courageous man; one who walked from Burma to India during World War II. A man who was so generous that his left hand did not know what his right hand was giving. May he be granted the Shade of the Throne on a Day when there shall be no other shade.
He lived a simple, purposeful, and meaningful life. I never saw him again after relocating to America in 2004. That is perhaps my greatest regret, when I wander back down memory lane. God-willing, I will see him again in the highest level of the Gardens of Jannah, where we shall sit together in tranquility and communion by His Mercy and Grace. Ameen.
And Allah and the Messenger know Best
