The Seven Under The Shade

Truly, it truly behoves us, and it truly behoves us to teach our children this hadith; To have the intention and then actively pursue avenues to fit into as many categories mentioned in this hadith as possible. May we be granted shade under The Shade of The Throne, on The Day of Standing, where the sun will be only a bow length above us and the sweat will pour forth.

Abu Huraira (RA) reported: The Prophet, ﷺ, said, There are seven whom God will shade on a day when there is no shade but His.

They are

1. A just ruler,

2. A youth who grew up in the worship of Allah,

3. One whose heart is attached to the mosques,

4. Two who love each other, meet each other, and depart from each other for the sake of Allah alone,

5. A man who is tempted by a beautiful woman of high status but he rejects her, saying, ‘I fear Allah’ (and vice a versa),

6. One who spends in charity and hides it such that the right hand does not know what the left hand has given,

7. And one who remembered Allah in private and wept.

Our hearts must only be attached to Allah, the Messenger, the Book and the Houses of Allah. The masajid don’t belong to any one person. These are the Houses of God. Never allow another human being to keep you away from the communal spaces of worship. There is immense blessing and reward in joining the congregational prayers, at the prescribed times, at the prescribed place.

Narrated Abu Huraira (RA): Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "If the people knew the reward for pronouncing the Adhan and for standing in the first row (in congregational prayers) and found no other way to get that except by drawing lots they would draw lots, and if they knew the reward of the Zuhr prayer (in the early moments of its stated time) they would race for it (go early) and if they knew the reward of Isha and Fajr (morning) prayers in congregation, they would come to offer them even if they had to crawl.”

Narrated Abu Darda (RA) that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, “Worship Allah as if you can see Him, for if you do not see Him, He surely sees you. Prepare yourself for death and beware of the supplication of the oppressed, for it will be answered. If one of you can attend the evening (Isha) and dawn (Fajr) prayers in congregation, even if you must crawl, then do so.”

And Allah and the Messenger know Best
