The Mountain

Sunrise, The Blue Ridge Parkway, Elevation 6,680 feet, Asheville, North Carolina.

We have our own personal mountains to climb.

It takes preparation to make the ascent.

We have to gather ourselves.

Focus the mind.

Nurture the soul.

Train the body.

Taking only what’s important with us.

Letting go of the unimportant.

A mountain can teach us a lot about ourselves.

It can teach us about conquering the self’s weaknesses.

It can teach us about harnessing the self’s strengths.

It can teach us about setbacks, patience, and perseverance.

Some parts of the trek are easy.

Some parts are strenuous.

Every part is equally important.

The peak is the ultimate destination.

Stopping at the overlooks along the way are just as important.

It may take days or months or even years to make the ascent.

Despite having a map, we may get lost.

The goal is to keep moving forward.

Resting the body when necessary.

Replenishing the soul continuously.

Sometimes we climb alone.

Sometimes we climb with companions.

Always trusting that Al-Muhaymin is with us.

Guiding us to the right trails.

Protecting us from the pitfalls.

Picking us up when we do fall.

Forgiving us when we err.

After all, both the mountain and we belong to Him, Al-Muhaymin.
