Ramadan Reflections 1444/2023 Part 21

The Dignity & Honour of The Children of Adam

Allah says in Surah 17 Al-Isra/The Night Journey, Verse 70...

"We have honoured/dignified the children of Adam and carried them by land and sea; We have provided good sustenance for them and favoured them specially above many of those We have created."

Know that we all have inherent honour, dignity and worth because Allah deemed each one of us worthy of creation and existence.

Never define yourself or allow others to do so, by the measurement of worldly metrics of success and worth, which are arbitrary and biased.

As a human being, we are defined only by the soundness of our spiritual heart - not by gender, beauty, lineage, career, wealth, relationships, political power or community standing. Only the Possessor of the hearts knows who each individual truly is.

Dear Sisters, this reminder is particularly for you. When Allah has bestowed honour and dignity upon you, never allow another human being to dishonour you, humiliate you, abuse you, malign you, oppress you, dominate you, control you or subjugate you.

Some people have no choice in the abusive and oppressive situation that they find themselves in - seek help from Allah.

Others do have a choice but lack the knowledge to get themselves out - seek help from Allah.

Use the Attributes of Allah to raise your duaa in this month of Ramadan.

As human souls, we are created for a much higher purpose; To know, worship and serve The Lord of the Worlds. The service to Allah through service to humanity, should never follow the path of abuse and oppression, when the, Children of Adam have been honoured by Allah. We have been granted a position of immense privilege as stewards of the planet. With great privilege, comes great responsibility and great accountability.

والله أعلم
